FAQ: Current Homeowner

During cloudy and cooler summer days, my house feels clammy. What can I do?

Although some adjustments in blower speeds may help this situation, a new Carrier Infinity System would solve the problem. These systems will adjust compressor outputs and blower speeds to maintain comfortable humidity levels, regardless of the summer temperature outside. Call or email us for an inspection to see if this fits your needs.

I have a humidifier, but it just does not seem to be enough in the middle of the winter.

Many humidifiers installed today may not have the capacity to keep your home well humidified during the colder months. Often, a steam humidifier can be used that can be sized to properly humidify in all temperatures. We carry several types to match your requirements.

My children often bring home colds from school that then infect others in the house. Is there some way to keep the others from getting sick?

Although it can't be entirely avoided, we have a product that will significantly help. By installing a Carrier Infinity Air Purifier, germs can not only be captured at your heating/cooling system, but also killed. Killing the germs as they filter through your whole house system will lesson the probability of others getting sick.

I have a sunroom that we installed before but never added any heating and cooling. There is no room for ductwork. Is there some way to add heating and cooling, extending the time we can use this room?

The answer is yes. We can install what is called a "Duct-free" split. This unit has an attractive wall unit for air distribution and a compact unit outside that houses the compressor. These units are quiet and efficient and require no ductwork. We even have one that looks like a picture frame. Contact us for details.

One of my air conditioners is located in the attic. How can I avoid getting a water leak through the ceiling?

Many conditions can cause a water leak, such as - The filter was dirty and the unit froze up. Someone stepped on the condensate drain and cracked or disconnected the pipe. The condensate line clogged and backed up. We can provide what is called a "wet switch" that will sense the slightest amount of water around your unit and immediately shut it down, avoiding the potential water leak and damaged ceiling. A thorough inspection of your system may also avoid future water problems.

I am always worried about fumes from my gas furnace and water heater. I understand they can give off dangerous carbon monoxide gas. How can I have peace of mine?

We handle a high quality Carbon Monoxide Detector that will signal your family in the event of an unsafe gas leak. These plug into a receptacle and have a lifetime battery back-up just in case.

It's summer and I see ice on the pipes leading to my unit (indoor and/or outdoor). Is this normal?

No. This condition indicates a malfunction in your system causing the cooling coil to freeze and airflow to be blocked. You should shut off your system immediately and call for service.
